Morning Inspiration 🖌️

Morning Inspiration 🖌️

Let's chat about a little morning magic that's been fueling my creative vibes lately. Picture this: an early morning drive to work, winter's black silhouetted trees dancing as the sun greets the day. It has become my daily muse, sparking a burst of inspiration for sketches as well as for my upcoming live Creative Burst session (join me weekly on Facebook Live or Instagram Live to draw along!).

Now, I've got to clarify: no sketching while driving (safety first, always!). But, oh, the images that stay in my mind from these drives are nothing short of enchanting. Weekends, though; that's my time. Early morning walks that turned into impromptu photoshoots and captured the beauty of those bare trees against the sunlit sky.

Using my photos, I dove into a creative rabbit hole. I made some quick pen and ink sketches, keeping my marks loose. I even used my non-dominant hand to do the sketching in order to help me stay out of my head and away from pursuing perfection. Later, I took my blue watercolor for a spin and made some bare birch trees. I got lost in the fun of traveling through my own sketchpad forest. I discovered that one color can generate quite a lovely result and that playing with different mark-making can lead to a more expressive and joyful process.

Keeping a daily sketchbook can help you to loosen up and draw with no inhibitions. It becomes a safe place to play and explore. Daily sketching isn't just about doodling; it's a mini vacation for your mind. Enter into the world of lines and shapes, and watch your worries melt away. It's like a warm hug for your creative spirit. Grab your favorite drawing tool—pencil, charcoal, or even a digital stylus—and let the magic happen. The more you draw, the sharper those fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination become. Little by little you will see growth and enjoy the benefits of the time spent sketching.

This Thursday at 7:30 pm, I would like you to join me for a Creative Burst session. We will use the wintry, bare trees from my morning drives as inspiration. In the meantime, grab your sketchbook, take photos, and use them to have your very own artsy adventure. I can't wait to see and hear about what you discover!
