In this week’s blog, I have shared a photo of a nature inspired mini painting. As you can see I was able to capture the sunrise and the lovely silhouetted bare trees that I saw during my morning drive to work. This was a simple and fun technique that was done in less than 20 minutes during my Creative Burst Session.
It is my greatest joy to encourage others to capture a moment that is all their own and use it to express themselves in the making of their art. I also love to share that you can really benefit when you gather your inspiration in real time. Yes, you heard me. Step out into nature. Look all around as you walk and breathe the fresh air. Maybe it's toasty warm where you live and the sun kisses your cheeks. Or, If you're like me, your walk may require a warm coat and gloves to withstand the chilly winds that blow around you as you stroll. Notice the sights, sounds and textures of the outdoors. Hopefully your spirit will feel lifted and you will be excited to find some inspiration for your next artistic effort. I often pick up stones, branches, leaves, or shells. I take photos of birds, water, trees and sky. Whatever lights you up, grab it or snap a photo. When you return from your adventure, you will have a little story of what you saw and how you encountered it. This can provide limitless possibilities for your daily doodles, sketches or paintings. I love to work small (art postcards are my favorite size). This gives me the freedom to experiment and explore with various mixed media techniques. Then if I love a particular one, I can use it as a guide to make a larger piece of art.
By gathering inspiration from your actual encounters, you will be able to infuse your artwork with your very own distinctive perspective. Your personal take on all you have experienced can then be lovingly translated into your art. Give this a try and share with us your real time inspired piece of art this Thursday @ 7:00 pm EST during the next Creative Burst LIVE on my Facebook page. See you there.
