Gratitude - The Art of Noticing

Gratitude - The Art of Noticing

During a recent nature walk, I had the most lovely experience. Just on the heels of an early snow on Halloween, a warm front blew in and we had spring once more. All along the path to the beach these hardy wildflowers were showing off their colors and fuzzy bees were busy gathering their pollen. My heart was bursting with gratitude at the sight of this miracle and I was inspired. So much so that I created several mini art postcard paintings featuring these flowers and bees.

Have you ever thought about how being grateful can actually fire up your creativity?

It's pretty amazing how these two are the perfect pair.

So, picture this: when we take a second to notice what is right in front of us, something magical happens. Gratitude flips a switch, and suddenly, our creative gears start spinning.

Here's a few ways that gratitude and creativity go hand in hand:
  • Think Positive: Gratitude flips our mindset from "I wish I had..." to "Wow, look at what I've got!" That shift opens up our brains to new possibilities. Instead of getting stuck on problems, we start hunting for creative solutions.
  • See the Bigger Picture: Being thankful broadens our view. It's like putting on glasses that help us see beyond ourselves. This wider perspective becomes a breeding ground for fresh ideas and creatively cool thoughts.
  • Feel-Good Vibes: Gratitude brings on the good feels. And when we're feeling happy and content, our minds become these awesome playgrounds for creativity. It's like joy becomes the fuel for our imaginative engines.
  • No Fear, Just Explore: Being grateful for what's happening right now chills out our worries about the future. And you know what that means? We get this superpower to take risks, try new stuff, and just explore without stressing over failing. And guess what? Creativity loves that kind of freedom.
Gratitude isn't just a warm, fuzzy feeling; it's a boost for creativity. It's this awesome tool that helps us look at the world with fresh eyes, sparking new ideas that feed our imaginations.

So, during Thanksgiving and every day moving forward, let’s practice the art of noticing and watch how it increases our gratitude and unlocks endless possibilities to express ourselves creatively.
